Catcher in the Rye has many relevant meanings for the teenagers of today. Holden Caufield’s confusions and frustrations are those of most teenagers who want to connect with other people and belong to a certain social quota. J.D Salinger presents to us a novel full of symbolism, imagery, and adolescent complexity that fufills it’s overall goals of giving us a glimpse into the life and psyche of a troubled and disturbed teenager who tries making connections with people he doesn’t know ending up in, as mean as this may sound, humorous failed attempts. The overall theme in this novel doesn’t comply any moral as did Ovid’s fables back in ancient Greece. Catcher in the Rye tends to be more interpretive in that manner. Holden’s inability to truly connect with people is due to his inability to immature and let go of pain.
“People never notice anything” (Pg 9). It’s in this quote that we really see what type of person Holden really is. Nobody around Holden seems to understand him, seems to understand his angers and confusions. Everyone is just as about as “phony as he is”. It’s in these beginning chapters we notice that something is wrong with Holden. something that doesn’t quite match up. He’s a white male with well-off parents that can afford to send him off to boarding school and he purposefully flunks out by not even attempting to study. It’s not until later on in the novel that we learn of James Castle and his brother Allie that there is a reason for this rebellion and personal wall that he has erected for himself. It’s how Holden breaks this wall that makes this book powerful and a very compelling and humorous read.

I really like this inexpensive cleaner. It is powerful, light, easy to use and also does a good job on cat hair and flat surfaces. I was pleasantly surprised.
NEWPORT BY TROLLEY!
I have used our EatSmart scale for over a month now and consider it to be an excellent product. I read many of the reviews here before deciding to purchase it. I really like the illuminated display with large numbers and it seems to be accurate and reliable–something our previous digital scale never was. I usually nudge the side of the scale to activate it. Works everytime. Great quality at a very reasonable price.
America Before Columbus
After reading some reviews I did go to Consumer Reports and it is the highest recommended pedometer. It is easy to use and comfortable. I love the safety clip!

Kathryn Stockett’s debut novel is beautifully written. She weaves experiences from her own southern childhood into the complex nuances of the novel. The novel is set in the tumultuous 1960’s south, a time of raw emotion, fear, and hatred. In the midst of all this chaos, the reader will see the gifts of love, devotion, and compassion.
I am looking forward to her second novel!

Though these metal clips (I’ve had them for years) are designed for bike riders, I have found a great use for them when off the bike. I live in the country, and I frequently have to go off into the woods to cut trees or clear brush. Obviously, I’ve been attacked by more than my share of ticks. But a pair of sturdy jeans and these clips snugly around the ankles keeps the ticks out like nobody’s business.
A great product!!

The troll rounded on him, all ten talons sliding out to their full extent. Drops of venom glistened from the tip of each tusk. Playtime was over.
In Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer, young prodigy Artemis Fowl II wants gold. And, as a twelve-year-old criminal mastermind, he knows how to get it. In order to retrieve one ton of twenty-four-carat gold, he abducts Captain Holly Short, a fairy of the LEPrecon Unit. Along with his manservant Butler, Artemis encounters a digging-and-entering dwarf, a one hundred and eighty kilogram troll, and a bio-bomb capable of wiping out every single living thing in his entire mansion. Eventually, Artemis comes out with about half the money he originally was hoping for. Artemis Fowl is a perfect fantasy for anyone interested in a good book.
One interesting part of the novel is how it is told from many points of view. Most of the time, you see the world from Holly’s or Artemis’s eyes, them being the main characters. This leaves you wondering who to root for, the police officer or the criminal. However, sometimes the story is even told by more minor characters, such as Butler, who sees most of the action, or Mulch Diggums, a career criminal dwarf the LEP hire to enter Artemis’s mansion.
Another enjoyable part of the book is its believability. For instance, throughout the book, little tidbits about fairies and their history appear, such as the fact that the human word “leprechaun” originally came from LEPrecon, or the Lower Elements Police Recon Unit. This helps make the whole concept of a “fairy” more plausible. Also, in the book, fairies are considerably more technologically advanced than humans. This should only be expected, considering the fact that they can use their magic incorporated in with their inventions. It also brings readers away from the “medieval witchcraft and wizardry” generally associated with this type of fantasy. Finally, the author researched many dangerous weapons and deadly tactics and placed his findings in the

EatSmart Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5″ Display and Oversize Platform. Short and sweet, After buying at least three different scales in the last couple of years, analog and digital, I finally have a scale that is consistent, and does what I want it to… simply give me an accurate weight every time I get onto it. I don’t have to think about how to stand on it like the others, I just step on and TADA! there is my weight… I was using a Health-O-Meter digital prior to this one and I could come up with three different weights within minutes..This one is always the same. So, I am verrrry happy with this purchase as well as the free shipping that went along with it. The EatSmart is consistent although it does read 1.2 pounds less that the Weight Watchers scale when I go to WW meetings but that’s OK… for all I know theirs might be off… I checked mine with hand weights that I placed gently on the glass platform and their weights were accurate.. So, I am very happy with my purchase…
Pro Digital Hard Lens
I almost didn,t purchase because of other review comments about sound quality. Lineup of performers and their performances was worth every penny. Only your bassett hound or your audiophile snob brother in law will notice any difference in sound quality between this DVD and others.
