These 4 actresses are so talented and make this great book so entertaining to listen to – it’s like being at the theater thru your iPod. They make this excellent novel come alive. As soon as I finished listening to it, I started back again at the beginning and listened to it again. It is great for long driving trips and I’m sure I’ll listen to it again at some point.

This kind of item is fun just to look at in the store- a 36 round package for, in most cases, $5-6. Nerf weapons aren’t always the best, not every model works as you would hope and expect, but Nerf rounds never disappoint. They live very simple lives, seeking only to hit targets as they were created to do. Theirs is an existence similar to the far more grim bullet, but considerably more fun since being hit by a Nerf round cannot, unless an eye takes a direct hit, cause physical pain. Keep that in mind, though- discourage players from firing at an opponent’s face unless all involved are wearing eye protection.

So this is a fine pack of rounds, and well worth its minimal price. But what about compatability? That is a key issue, here. The newly-developed Clip System utilizes unique magazines and rounds that fit a specific set of weapons. And those only. They do not fit the Vulcan, Maverick, or any other Nerf weapon not rated and designed to use Clip System rounds. So while this is an excellent and enjoyable product, make sure you have at least one Clip-System type Nerf weapon before buying it. Otherwise there’s gonna be a whole lotta nothin’ goin’ on when you next try to use them in a Nerf game.

I always enjoy a new take on fairies, and these technology savvy fey are no exception. Instead of magical creatures that have no need of technology, these fairies have super-advanced technology combined with magic. But anyway, that’s just the fairies. The main character of the novel, Artemis Fowl, is a boy genius who is also a criminal. He is simply following in the footsteps of Fowls who came before him, and even has his own personal bodyguard who has been assigned to him since birth. Although Artemis is a criminal genius, he has problems at school, his mother suffers from some sort of mental disorder, and his father is missing in action–it’s interesting to see how Artemis tries to work out his problems, and how the story plays out in the end.

I recommend this book, especially for tweens and younger teens, but I enjoyed the story as an adult, too.

I recorded 400 different videos from my daughter’s first cry to her 1st birthday. I cannot get the recorded videos to play back from any software other than Sony’s proprietary software.

Sony’s tech support states to “I’m sorry for the difficulties, here is a link describing why Sony’s videos won’t play back on Windows Media Software”
[...]

I understand that Sony cannot support every 3rd party software, but why does Canon and Samsung and Apple product have videos that are supported by Windows Media Player? Sony support states that their videos require a special codec. What the heck do I care? All any user wants is to be able to record and edit on any PC or Mac. Well you can’t do it unless you stick to Sony’s software which is limited for video editing.

Sony DCR SR47 Hard

I bought this through Amazon at a deep discount. The wireless set-up was complicated and required research on-line for success, taking much too much time. Thereafter, it performed when it felt like it, after going through a long series of conniptions — making unusual noises, jiggering around on its table. Like the little girl: when it wanted to be good, it was very good; when it wanted to be bad … well, it simply would not work. I tried to uninstall the wireless installation and replace it with a wired installation. Again, it worked — and then it didn’t. There was no discernible difference in what I did when it worked or did not work. It would work fine one minute. A few minutes later it had turned itself off (it did this in both wireless and wired mode) and refuse to print. It never lost its desire to make unusual noises — realignment sounds of one kind or another — and actually jump around in place on its table. The HP “solution center” was useless. When the thing was wired up, the solution center informed me that the machine was not connected. I removed the wires and re-plugged them. No change. I have given up. Over the years, each generation of printer — I’ve mostly owned HPs — has gotten cheesier and cheesier, moving from substantial machines 10 or 15 years ago to rickety boxes today. I thought I’d drawn a lemon HP 8000, so I went to Staples to purchase an HP 6000, figuring the ink would be the same and I’d at least be able to use up the extra supply I bought with the HP 8000. No such luck. They cleverly use different inks. The whole built-in obsolescence thing that almost killed the American automobile industry is alive and well and living in Silicon Valley.
