Chick lit but a fairly accurate portrayal of the bizarre sociology of white/black relatIonships in the Jim Crow south. But the reality of black criminality, violence & out of wedlock births are hardly mentioned. No neighborhood women down the block taking in a child abandoned by his mom. Did the author’s New York editor ax these? Also there are no cotton plantations in Jackson’ outskirts. Jackson is in the piney woods with thin topsoil.
Meanders a bit but an amusing read.
