My wife and I are seniors, and we mostly eat the right foods and try to exercise some, but we’re not fanatics about it. I recently had double-hernia surgery, and figured it would help the healing process if I was able to lose a few pounds prior to surgery,(I’m 5′8″, and weighed 213), so I eliminated snacks like ice cream and peanut butter, and substituted more fruits like apples and blueberries. Seems to have worked; my weight on the hospital scale on the morning of surgery was 201.
Well, so now I’m all motivated to get down to my weight of 25 years ago, about 175-180. Our old spring loaded scale was way past its prime–we had to advance the dial setting from “zero” to “+8 lbs” in order to get the same reading as our doctor’s scale. Time for a new scale.
I checked a few of the most highly rated digital scales on Amazon, and decided that the Eat Smart Digital Bathroom Scale was the best scale available, as well as being the best value. Why? First and foremost, it’s extremely accurate, based on the tests that some of the reviewers performed. Second, it features a large, backlit, easy to read display, which is important to anyone who weighs themselves just before they step in the shower and have already removed their eyeglasses.
Next, it is well made, looks good, is easy to store, and has a two year full warranty. I also like the fact that it reports your weight down to one decimal place, but I had to promise my bride that I won’t obsess about gaining less than one whole pound.
Last note–we haven’t had any trouble turning the scale on–just raise it a bit with your big toe, then set it down like another reviewer suggested.

We highly recommend this product.
