Possibly the worst book I’ve ever read. Actually, I can’t say that because I didn’t read the whole thing. I stuck it out as best I could, and it was at around page 150 that I let out a frustrated scream; then, in anger, ripped the cover off and threw the pages into the fireplace. The cover I gave to my dog who’s been chewing on it, happily, for the last several days.
Stephenie Meyer should go to prison for foisting such an atrocity upon the young minds of the world. Seriously; I’m not kidding.
I’m just curious why there are many of you who believe God wrote the Holy Bible when it was clearly written by men such as Neale as well.
I believed the book to be extremely loving and has given a sense of peace within my life. God is loving and if he is loving I don’t believe he can be vengeful and wrathful as well. He or we created ourselves to experience life in all spectrum’s of life and although I also do not agree with some of the ideas, the premise makes logical and spiritual sense with me.

I have used both the TC-17E II and this one, the TC-14E II. This one multiplies the reach of a zoom lens by only 1.4. There are two other Nikon teleconverters in this series, the TC-17E II (1.7 multiplier) and the TC-20E II (2.0 times multiplier). The “E II” series of teleconverters is only suitable for certain Nikon lenses–check the Nikon website for compatability. I purchased this teleconverter for use with the 70-200VR F/2.8 lens, with which it is quite compatible.
All teleconverters introduce at least a theoretical degradation in image quality in exchange for the extra reach; the extent of this can range from the unnoticeable to the significant. The TC-14E II does not degrade the images from the 70-200VR to any perceptible extent. Even when shooting with wide aperture settings this teleconverter does not appear to introduce any noticeable decrease in lens image quality. Further, it only lowers the light sensitivity of a lens by one F Stop. This means that a 2.8 lens will become a 3.8 lens when using this teleconverter–still pretty fast. The TC-14E II is noticeably sharper than the TC-17E II in lower light conditions requiring wider apertures (at the cost of less “reach” or magnification). I have been extremely impressed with the combination of the TC-14E II and the Nikon 70-200VR. The magnification is significant, and the decrease in image quality is undetectable.
Most Nikon afficianados seem to think that the 17E II is the best compromise between not too much image degradation and significant magnification, and I am inclined to agree with this, generally. The charm of the 14E is that it really does appear not to exact any appreciable price in terms of image quality, and it is the only teleconverter I have ever used (or heard of) of which this can be said. The qualities of the 14E II become evident when shooting in low light conditions, such as early morning wildlife shots. When shooting flying birds, for instance, this TC is particularly useful

This review is particularly of Nathaniel Parker’s narration, and not so much of the Artemis Fowl book itself, as there are already so many reviews on that.
If you want an auditory treat, get this audiobook – Nat Parker is a genius when it comes to bringing these characters to life. He does wonderful accents – there are multiple Irish accents for Artemis, Butler, Juliet and Angeline, but many others for the fairy people which are just amazing. In addition, his own, natural speaking /reading voice is so smooth , resonant and perfectly paced that is is a treat in itself. Unlike other audiobooks which I have listened to, you can’t hear him breathing – with some readers you hear every big breath they take and it gets irritating. He reads it perfectly and the great fun is in the rapid dialogue exchanges where he must manage different voices with different accents as well as the narrator’s voice.
The story itself, well, there are some boring and technical parts which I tried to read, and Artemis’s character is not terribly likeable, but the way Parker voices him makes you feel some affection for the character.
If you like the books, this is a worthwhile addition because of the way the characters are brought to life – and if you didn’t like the books, it’s a great listen just for Parker’s enormous vocal talent.

I purchased the small FURminator to use on my small dog, who sheds unbelievably. I also purchased one as a gift to my cousin (who has 6 cats). This deshedding tool actually does what it is designed to do and does it well for dogs and cats. I love it! So does my cousin! The small one works on my short-haired dog and doesn’t dig into her skin. It’s easy to clean off the excess fur as you use it and keeps the hairs together without flying all over the place as you work.

I had high expectations for this book, which always adds pressure to a reading experience. I found the novel appealing with angry ant Holden reminding me in some ways of myself during high school, but I must confess that I missed the key message of this story. The characters lacked visible face for me, and the timeline of two or three days was a contributing obstacle. The “up yours” attitude of Holden’s towards authority is a feeling all reading can relate to in their own ways. But I am still unsure what I was supposed to feel or understand better by the conclusion of this book. A decent novel, but it didn’t sizzle for me. Nicholas R.W. Henning – Australian Author.

The Wii is a great system for the young and old. I bought mine a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I use it just about every day! I’ve even had Wii parties where friends come over and we play Wii games. I’d highly recommend this system to anyone with families, single people, couples, or people with disabilities!!

Think of a juvenile James Bond with an IQ beyond Einstein’s. Then throw him in a world of technologically superior fairies, and the fun can begin.
And this is really what Artemis Fowl is about, first and foremost: FUN.
Some might say it reverts too easily to stereotypes, but I am not sure whether this is actually a bad thing. Too much depth, too much complexity in character development, might have taken the umpf out of the sheer fun ride I’ve had in reading Artemis.
The basic idea of the book–for those new to Fowl’s world–is that there is an underground world of fairies who go to great pains to keep their existence a secret from the human upper world. Until Artemis, a young criminal master mind, tracks down the fairies and upsets the whole balance of the worlds above and below ground.
In summary: Don’t expect the symbolism of Narnia, the metaphysics of His Dark Materials, or the detail of Harry Potter. Artemis Fowl doesn’t have any of those. Instead, expect to be blasted away by the explosive energy of a fun novel.

This camera is a great buy. The timer function is great for when you want everyone in the picture and there is no stranger around to take it. I have taken many family pictures this way. All pictures seem to turn out great despite our lack of photography knowledge. I liked ours so much, I bought one for my mom and she finally gave up her disposable camera addiction. The result is that she too gets great pictures. Some cameras have too many bells and whistles and some not enough…this one is just right.

Overall I was very pleased with the performance of my new Hoover. I think it does a great job of cleaning. Improvements that need to be made: 1. I use boiling water for cleaning as instructed at another third party web site. The seperate attachment cleaning device has a small rubber hose that is simply locked into a nipple by friction. I think the super hot boiling water expands the tubing enough that the tube slips off the nipple and causes a huge (and very HOT) leak. I wish they would build this part with a hose clamp to hold the tubing in place. It spoiled my otherwise very pleasant cleaning experience. 2. The clean water tank and the dirty water tanks need to be larger to cut down on frequency of refilling/dumping.
