So I haven’t read this book in about 10 years. I just randomly decided that I want to start reading again to help add some imagery and metaphors into my song writing – believe me, reading does this. So literally 5 minutes ago, I did a google search for this book, and the first thing that pops up is that JD Salinger died yesterday, the article was created at right about the same time I was thinking of getting this book again. I’ve always thought that the best present you can receive is something you want but would never buy for yourself. The Kindle fit that criteria to a “T” and I was lucky to be given it for Christmas. My biggest reservation about buying a Kindle was my love of traditional books. After reading one book on the Kindle, that reservation was erased. I especially love reading new releases on the Kindle because I don’t particularly enjoy reading hardback books. For the series that I love, waiting until the paperback of the latest book is released is just not an option. I love being able to buy a book and be reading it within minutes, from where ever I am. Also, larger non-fiction books that are bulky in my purse are perfect purchases for the Kindle. The size of the Kindle makes it perfect for traveling and for sticking in my purse to have if I ever have a spare moment to read and is probably my favorite feature of the device.

I’ve generally been pleased with the variety of books available for the Kindle, but have found the formatting of many books, especially books in the public domain, to be atrocious (Cotillion by Georgette Heyer is particularly bad). Personally, I’d rather wait a little longer for a Kindle release and have a well formatted book, but maybe that’s just me.

Now, for what can be improved: I would love the ability to star and write reviews on the device once I’ve finished the book. The book list interface is generic in the extreme. I would like to be able to see the cover of the book along with the title and my rating. The ability to pick up a book and flip to a remembered passage isn’t easy to do on the Kindle, unless you thought when reading the book to bookmark it. It annoys me that it isn’t a page for page with the hardcover or paperback. Maybe this is due to having
