The author of the book sparked my interest when I saw her on the Ellen Show a year or so ago. She explained that she had three little babies when she began to write the first book. Maybe I misunderstood or am not remembering, but I thought she had said that she had never thought of writing a book before, but just sat down one day and started to write. It fascinated me that this woman not yet 30 years old writing prolifically while never have written before and having babies on her lap while doing it. I was envious of her, and just wondering how she not only got through one book, but 4 or 5 within such a short time, little experience, and that became so huge. There are so many good writer’s out there who never get noticed because I’m assuming it’s extremely difficult for a publisher to even read your work, let alone think it is good enough to publish. Then after that to get the public to read it, so was really in awe of this woman. Because of this, I had to read her book. I bought it right away on Amazon and couldn’t wait to start reading it. This was about a year ago, and I just now finished it. :) No, not a slow reader, but am one of those people who even if I find a book uninteresting, I still have to finish it once started. Yes, I read several in between, hating going back to such a dull, poorly written book. I also have to say that I am 40, and not a teen, so I know that the book does not really focus on my age group. Also, I haven’t seen the movies, and assume the actors and romance make people more interested in the series than the actual plot and writing of the book.

The storyline was uninteresting, and had no depth. The writing was below average in comparison to the majority of writers published and non-published. The romance was ridiculous to me. It was way too intense without reason, and all happened so quickly whereas it seemed liked it should have taken more time. I don’t mean that one can’t have a strong crush on someone and think they

I just have to share this! I loved this pedometer and was using it every day and found that it did help me to increase my steps per day. Then I left it in the pocket of my jeans and washed it!! It fell out before I loaded the clothes in the dryer. Fortunately, I have an eyeglass screwdriver, which you WILL need to change the battery. I took out the battery, unscrewed the three other tiny screws, and took the whole thing apart. I put it on the top of a bookcase to dry, with the four tiny screws in the lid from a vitamin bottle. Then, because I didn’t really BELIEVE that it was savable, I left it there for more than a month. Then, about to toss it in the trash, I decided to put it back together, which was easy, since it is so well designed. I haven’t set all the functions yet, because I have forgotten how, but it is counting steps justs fine, with the same battery! I love this thing and plan to check my pockets before washing every time. . .

Just think: 91 year old, J. D. will live on in teenage land forever! God Bless him for creating such a marvelous read.
I love this book because I can read it once a decade since I first encountered it in high school so many years
ago and like it just the same. Holden is forever lively, silly, young and engaging–and it still makes me
shake my head when I remind myself that the story takes place in the late 1940’s. Goes to show you things
really do not change–especially, the sporadic emotions of teens. But I need to say while Salinger’s little
novel is engaging, it is limited. I can understand why people are questioning its immense popularity.
Holden’s journey is just a “slice of life” and not a full story that merits classic fiction.
